چکیده

Background: The increasing rate of water-borne diseases in Karachi demands the characterization associated pathogens. Nowadays, infections become more resistant to treatment due biofilm formation and excessive use antibiotics. Biofilm water deteriorates quality water. This study identified characterized biofilm-producing E. coli drinking Methodology: Water samples were analyzed for heterotrophic plate count total coliforms, fecal coli. Kirby disk bar diffusion method was used investigate antibiotic susceptibility Congo red tube ring methods identify producers. effect on hydrophobicity performed by BATH method. soft agar determines colony spreading ability non-biofilm Molecular virulence genes a PCR. Scanning electron microscopy construction conducted. Results: 120 tested 78% unfit this study, 21.66% fit. 38 strains found samples. According findings, isolates increased with incubation period. Colony-forming unit drops one logarithm state compared planktonic stage. producers genes, pet, lt, stx2, molecular characterization. Conclusion: presence is alarming, it indicates inappropriate supply system. To prevent rapid diseases, adequate actions are required control drinking-water

Isolation, Identification and Antimicrobial Resistance Patterns of E. coli Isolated from Chicken Flocks

Fifty E. coli strains isolated from chicken flocks were analyzed to determine their resistance to antimicrobial agents used in Tehran poultry industry. By using Mast Diagnostic kit only O6 serotype was identified. Multiple resistance to antibiotics was observed in all isolates. The highest rate of resistance was against Tetracycline (94%), followed by Rifampicin (90%), and Oxytetracycline (80%)...

Isolation and Identification of Pathogenic Bacteria from Drinking Water

Drinking water microbiological quality was primarily determined by enumeration of “indicator organisms”, whose presence indicates faecal contamination. The presence of the indicators is often a key in assessing potential public health risks due to bacterial pathogens and is used in drinking water quality regulations and guidelines in many countries. The enumeration of fecal coliform specificall...

Genetic Attributes of E. coli Isolates from Chlorinated Drinking Water

Escherichia coli, is intimately associated with both human health and water sanitation. E. coli isolates from water can either be (i) host associated commensals, indicating recent faecal contamination; (ii) diarrheal pathogens or (iii) extra-intestinal pathogens that pose a direct health risk; or (iv) free-living. In this study we genetically characterised 28 E. coli isolates obtained from trea...

Isolation and molecular identification of carotenoid-producing bacteria

The production of pigments from bacteria is significant due to the low cost, high yield and ease of extract compared with other sources. Carotenoids are one of the most important pigments with antioxidant properties which are the precursor of vitamin A synthesis and have antibody overproduction ability, anti-tumor activity and inhibitory effect on the cardiovascular disease. The present study a...
